So here is my first contribution to the Doodle-a-Day experiment. I am not good at drawing and it will be interesting to see what progress I can make in one month of daily sketches. I have kept it simple with this pile of three books under a single light source on a white background. The sketch is 7in. high by 8in. wide and for this I allowed 20 minutes. The reasons for having a time limit are twofold: First, to force myself to get on with it and not be distracted and, secondly, to make me concentrate on essentials rather than superfluous details.
I should be able to do better. After all it is only a big box with a shallower box on top but my perspective is not quite right – to put it mildly. Still, it is a start and it was an enjoyable exercise. Now I must sort out some objects to draw during the next few days.
